The Ford Center for the Performing Arts Oriental Theatre is commonly known as the Oriental Theatre was opened in 1926. The building was constructed in Late Gothic Revival and Art Deco style by George L. and Cornelius W. Rapp.

The Theatre was placed in National Register of Historic Places on September 26, 1978 as New Masonic Building and Oriental Theatre. The venue hosted both movies and vaudeville acts and in 1930s it served as a movie house.

The Oriental Theatre hosted performances of number of performers like Frank Sinatra, The Three Stooges, Bing Crosby, Al Jolson, Stepin Fetchit, Bob Hope, Sophie Tucker, The Marx Brothers, Eddie Cantor, George Burns and Gracie Allen, Cab Calloway, Ella Fitzgerald, Fanny Brice, Danny Kaye, Jean Harlow, Sarah Vaughan, Billie Holiday, Alice Faye, Jerry Lewis and Henny Youngman.

Wicked Musical stayed at this theatre from June 2005 through January 2009. This is the remarkable and most popular stage production in the history of Oriental Theatre. The venue hosted pre-Broadway tryouts of The Addams Family, starring Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth was held from November 13, 2009 through January 10, 2010 and the production of the 2009 Tony Award winner for Best Musical Billy Elliot starring, among others, Cesar Corrales as Billy Elliot from March 18 to November 28, 2010.
